Angling For Youth Development (AFYD)

AFYD is a personal and social development angling organisation working with young people. It was established in 2004 and has multiple projects operating across Scotland. It works to build young people's confidence and self esteem through education and coaching session across all three angling disciplines.

Borderlines

Borderlines is an angling engagement project established in 2005 to work throughout the Cumbria area, particularly in and round Carlisle. It provides activities in game, sea and course and works closely with local schools, youth offending teams and the local community to particularly engage those who are disadvantaged, disables or requiring rehabilitation.

GHOF Midlands (Birmingham)

GHOF Midlands (Birmingham) was established in 2002 and is run by Andy Walker. It is one of the many programmes that operates under the umbrella organisation Angling Unlimited.

GHOF Bolton

GHOF Bolton is run by female angling coach Bridget Dawson. Established in 2008, the project works with schools, inclusion teams, and local youth groups to offer coarse angling sessions and the GHOF modules. The modules include both practical and class based learning around angling techniques, fish welfare and the environment.

GHOF Ealing

GHOF Ealing is the most recently established GHOF project. Set up under the guidance of GHOF founder Mick Watson it aims to become a self sustaining social enterprise within three years.

GHOF Easington is one of two principle case study sites for the young people's section of the research. This has meant multiple visits to the project since the research began in May 2009.

GHOF Liverpool

GHOF Liverpool is one of our key research site for exploring the theme of peer mentoring. The project is coordinated by Peter Henery and runs inunder youth intervention project Positive Future North Liverpool. One of the advantages of this relationship is access to the positive Futures building which serves as a drop in point for the young people in the area.

GHOF North East (Durham)

GHOF North East (Durham) was the founding GHOF project established in 2000 by Mick Watson. The North East project runs as a social enterprise In Bishop Aukland, managing a 36 acre coarse fishery with on site class room and cafe facilities.

GHOF North East Lincolnshire

Established in 2007, GHOF North East Lincolnshire has grown dramatically under coordinator Mark Fenty.

Based at Homestead Lakes in Immingham, the project has transformed the site, reducing anti-social behaviour, establishing a junior club and creating wildlife nature boards and pond dipping area for local school use.
