GHOF North East (Durham)
GHOF North East (Durham) was the founding GHOF project established in 2000 by Mick Watson. The North East project runs as a social enterprise In Bishop Aukland, managing a 36 acre coarse fishery with on site class room and cafe facilities.
The project is self sustaining and generates additional revenue from public day ticket sales. A clear advantage of having this extensive site has been the opportunity to offer young people development in a range of skills, from volunteering in the on site tackle shop, cafe or management offices, through to fishery management and conservation/land management.
The project continues to work closely with the police, youth offending teams and local school.
