Established in 1976, Angling projects run by Les Webber MBE is the longest running angling intervention project working with young people. It offers free accommodation and fishing sessions drawing in youth groups from all over the country and is staffed completely by volunteers.
Over the years Les Webber has worked with schools and youth clubs to develop tackle libraries, has encouraged BTEC groups to use the site for a range of education work including, horticulture and construction, and encouraged young people to play an active role in maintaining and shaping the project waters. He continues to do valuable work by providing advice, equipment and assistance to schools, local authorities, and youth groups wishing to develop their angling provisions. In 2008 he received an MBE in recognition of over 32 years charitable work getting young people into angling and away from crime.
