Angling For Youth Development (AFYD)

AFYD is a personal and social development angling organisation working with young people. It was established in 2004 and has multiple projects operating across Scotland. It works to build young people's confidence and self esteem through education and coaching session across all three angling disciplines.

What makes AFYD a particularly interesting organisation is that it is run on a voluntary basis. This makes it unusual amongst the angling intervention projects doing similar work. Our visits to AFYD sites and interviews with co-ordinators explores how they are able to deliver a consistent program utilising volunteers working within the community or delivering from specialist schools.
